Name of Client

Project Objectives

To conduct a responsible business assessment (including human rights) for an international oil and gas company to understand their impacts, both positive and negative, around operations in Kenya.

Project Outputs

The project involved community and stakeholder engagement, a desk review of international best practice and a gap assessment of the organisation in terms of knowledge, understanding, resources and approach. It also applied conflict analysis to enable the company to understand its own position within existing conflicts and the impact that oil discoveries are having. Taking into account the nuances of devolution and the relationship with government stakeholders, we identified challenges in accountability and how this is changing at different stages of development.
