Assessment of Child Trafficking in Urban Kenya

Assessment of Child Trafficking in Urban Kenya

Date/Duration

Mar 2014

Project Objectives

Verify whether child trafficking occurs in informal settlements, and in what forms, to inform design of an anti-trafficking program within informal settlements.

Project Outputs

Interviews and focus group discussions were conducted in Mathare and Mukuru informal settlements, and a validation meeting was held to discuss the findings and other outstanding issues with the field work. Following data analysis, an external report – ‘Child Trafficking in Urban Kenya’ – was designed and is being shared among relevant donors and policy makers to provide evidence of the magnitude of this problem to children rights organisations within the country and beyond.
