Project Objectives

Identify key stakeholders and influencers in disparate communities and how they send and receive information, and recommend how the UN/humanitarian community can engage and respond.

Project Outputs

Rakhine State in Myanmar witnessed outbreaks of violence in June and October 2012. During this time and since, humanitarian agencies have faced multiple challenges resulting from communities’ perceptions of bias in the delivery of assistance towards particular groups over others. In an effort to coordinate UN/INGO responses to the situation, a Communications Strategy was drafted. Integrity was commissioned to support this initiative, by conducting an independent assessment of community perceptions of INGOs/UN agencies and methods of communication in Rakhine. The research led to the development of stakeholder engagement strategies for the Humanitarian Country Team that seek to reduce conflict and improve humanitarian access in the region.
