Civil Society In Kenya

As part of the recent evaluation of Tiri’s Pro-Poor Integrity programmes I was involved in a number of meetings with civil society representatives in the costal province Kinango, north of Mombassain Kenya. The meetings were arranged by CRSP, a civil society organisation that is a part of the Aga Khan Development Network.

The meetings and group discussions revealed the challenges inherent in facilitating workshops in districts with several local dialects and the various layers of translation needed even amongst the communities themselves. Working with an engaged partner who has the trust of the locals was crucial in helping the meetings run successfully.
